Welcome to Another Year at Absalom Academy




Welcome to Absalom Academy. I am Professor Pathfinder, your new headmaster here at the Academy. I trust you will find your term here most enjoyable as I lecture about the world of Golarion. I will discuss classes, ancestries, mechanics, products, and conventions I travel to. I will offer commentary and discussion. I will try my best to make your time at the Academy entertaining and informative. With the introductory assembly out of the way, let us go over the rules and guidelines of the Academy. 

 

  1. Comments are highly encouraged. The Academy is not an echo chamber and there is nothing a teacher hates more than talking to an empty classroom. Liking and sharing is also encouraged. I am always looking to grow my student body. 

 

  1. Comments may be encouraged, but misbehavior is not. There will be no profanity, hate speech, sexually inappropriate comments, harassment, controversial comments (such as politics and religion), or disrespect in general. Violators will be warned. Repeat or severe violations will result in detention (Suspension of commenting privileges). Continuing to disregard the rules of Absalom Academy will result in expulsion (Permanent ban). 

 

  1. Please keep comments on-topic. This blog is about Pathfinder 2E. While I might occasionally delve into subjects like Pathfinder 1E, Starfinder, Dungeons & Dragons, and retro video games in the future, this blog’s focus is Pathfinder 2E. 

 

  1. I do not own any of the artwork or trademarks contained within the academy. If anyone desires credit for something I used, let me know and I will give proper credit. Please do not sue. Go after Vince McMahon, he's loaded.

 

  1. Most importantly, have fun! We are all here because we love Pathfinder and I want you to enjoy reading and commenting as much as you enjoy playing.

How I Learned to Stop Worrying and Love to GM

Well, I GMed my very first session of Pathfinder last night. I was nervous as well as tired due to having worked all day, but it went better than I could have ever hoped for. Turnout was not what I had hoped for but there were still enough players to make for an enjoyable night. I was happy to do it and I hope to do it more in the future. However, I also learned a lot and I wanted to share with you what I have learned. 1.   Prep is not a big deal.   When I was first tapped to GM 2 Quests, I was a bit panicked. I was obsessed with getting everything absolutely right, convinced that I had to basically had to remember everything. I printed everything. Dice Dice Baby

  I love dice. Who doesn't? Dice are the single most important piece of gear any gamer can have. Pathfinder, like any good RPG, is governed by the roll of the dice. That said, there are many types of dice out there and I thought I would go through them and tell you what I think. 1. Plastic Dice: These are the most common type of dice out there. Odds are, when you first started, you had these. Either a sympathetic GM gave them to you or you bought them because you didn't want to commit tons of cash to something you weren't sure you were going to like. Plastic dice are inexpensive and that is why they remain popular.  2. Metal Dice: For my part, I have always despised plastic dice. Inexpensive they may be, but they are also light and the roll can go anywhere. I bought metal dice early on in my Pathfinder career and never looked back. I like them because they not only look cool but they are heavier and I feel that it is easier to control the roll. A word of warning. If you use

Your Friendly Neighborhood Fighter-Man: The Academy Guide to Fighters

  Fighter-Man, Fighter-Man, does whatever a fighter can. Wields a weapon any size, kills monsters just like flies. Look out, here comes the Fighter-Man! Is he strong? Listen, bud, he's got hit points in his blood. Can he swing from a rope? His 10 DEX says nope. Look out, there falls the Fighter-Man! Fighter-Man, Fighter-Man, Friendly Neighborhood Fighter-Man! Wealth and fame, he wants more. XP is his reward. To him, life is a great big rattle, wherever there's a battle, you'll find the Fighter-Man!-sung to the tune of the Spider-Man theme song. Soldiers, gladiators, guards, thugs, that bully who shakes you down for your lunch money after class, (I really should do something about him. I was left deafened after that last PTA meeting.
